Let's Talk about
How To Control Acne
I’ve set up
this website to provide information on acne control.
You’ll find lots of tips, information, and resources to
help with your acne challenges. As a teacher of middle and
high school students, I see day in day out how hard it is
for students who have acne control issues.
You know the drill,
whenever investigating or researching your teacher says find
out:
What: What is acne?
Acne is a clogged hair follicle. The follicle fills up with
debris, oil (a.k.a sebum), cells, and bacteria. When
the hair follicle is too full it screams enough is enough
and out bursts our favorite friend the PIMPLE!!
Who: Who gets acne? Acne
can occur at any age, but most people start struggling with
acne in their teens to early young adult years. Acne doesn’t
care about your race either, all races get acne.

When: When do most people
get acne? Most people get acne in their teenage years, and
girls tend to notice acne occurs more often near their
menstrual cycle. Acne can occur at any age, so just because
you have acne control doesn’t mean you will always be acne
free learn to control your acne NOW!
Where: Where does most acne
occur? Acne can occur anywhere on the body. Most often acne
occurs on the face, chest and back because we have lots of
pilosebaceous units (plain
English please: hair follicles) in these
areas.
Why: Why does acne burst
our self-esteem? British Journal of
Dermatology found that acne patients experienced
social, psychological, and emotional ramifications at the
same level of those with chronic health problems, such as
epilepsy, diabetes, and arthritis. You might
be thinking what? It’s just a pimple, but when you have
one pimple, it is all you can think about and you think
everyone is looking at your nice red shiny and painful
new lump. What if you had 50 pimples, would that invoke
some down feelings, would you want to go out with your
friends?
Maybe you’re thinking
o.k. I get it I need more information to finally get my
acne under control here is a great
guide
How: How can I have
acne control?
-
Treatment - When you get a pimple,
the last thing you want to think about is which
treatment I should use. Remember there are no known
cures for acne, so maybe the best way to think
about treatment is to think about what type of acne
control you need. Are you having problems with
blackhead, whiteheads, cystic acne, or
rosacea?
-
Removal – There are safe ways to
remove acne. Picking at acne will lead to scaring
and that is definitely a no no, so take some time
and read how do I remove a blackhead or white head
or how to get rid of pimples fast.
-
Remedies – There are many remedies
to consider, do you want to go natural, make
something at home or use a product.
-
Diet – Foods don’t cause acne, but
good health can help with your acne control.
-
Clear Skin – Find a skin regimen to
help prevent acne and stick to the regime.
